PeopleCert · Europe / UK
Highly structured process approach in seven phases and seven principles. Ideal for organizations that prioritize clear governance and documentation.
Prerequisite: Foundation certificate for Practitioners (no proof of experience required)
Validity: Foundation permanent, Practitioner 3 years
Strength: Public sector, UK market, very clear process structure
Recognition in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland: Moderate, stronger in public authorities and large corporations
IPMA
International Project Management Association
IPMA · DACH market
Competency-based approach according to ICB 4.0 in four levels (D to A). Focus on personal maturity and behavior, not on process knowledge. Particularly well established in German-speaking countries.
Level: D (beginner) to A (program manager)
Validity: 5 years
Strength: Technical industries, engineering, DACH SMEs
Recognition in DACH: Very high, especially in automotive and mechanical engineering
PMI-ACP
Agile Certified Practitioner
PMI · IT / Digital Transformation
Covers multiple agile frameworks: Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP, Lean. Ideal for teams that switch between classic and agile project management or use hybrid approaches.
Prerequisite: 21 hours of agile training + 8 months of agile project experience
Validity: 3 years (30 PDUs)
Strengths: IT projects, product management, digital teams
Recognition in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland: Growing rapidly, especially in tech companies
